Newton Heath at Tatton Park
16th - 18th June 2006
(see below for photos)

There were quite a few Staffs Agility members at the Newton Heath show at Tatton Park between 16 and 18 June with several members camping. Despite the unforecast rain a very successful weekend was had by all.

Highlights of the weekend included:

  • Robert winning out of Elementary with Gypsy by coming third in the Small Starters Agility on Saturday. Robert also picked up a fourth in the Small Starters Agility on the Sunday.
  • Kate and Bess had a number of great runs with their best resulting in a third place in Starters Agility on Sunday.
  • Kim getting two places, 5th and 6th in Small Starters Agility with Jade.
  • Tricia and Dee came fourth in Small Open Agility on Friday.
  • Ann and Flint did very well with their best performance to date resulting in a second place in Medium Starters Agility.
  • Neil had a number of clears and places with Meg, the best being fourth in Starters Agility.
  • Amanda and Minx got third in Medium Open Agility on Friday.

On top of all the rosettes in the standard classes we also had members in both the Championship Final and the ABC and Medium Semi Finals for Olympia.

·        Two impressive clears in the Championship Jumping and Agility took Lorraine and Ash into the Large Championship Final. This extremely consistent partnership also went clear in the Final and came fifth.

·        The ABC Semi Final was held on the Saturday night and we had two Staffs members Mandi with Tia and Louise with Sol in this event. The standard of ABC dogs is now exceptionally high and just qualifying for this Semi Final is an excellent achievement. Both handlers had late runs which meant they were able to watch some of the other competitors run before fetching their dogs. Mandi was the first to run with Tia, arriving at the ring in the just in time to get on the start line. Tia had a blistering run but unfortunately just missed the dog walk and got five faults. Louise & Sol ran a few dogs later and showed the crowd what a flat coat could do. Again a lovely run with a young dog, just picking up ten faults.

·        Amanda and Minx had qualified for the Medium Semi Final which was held on Sunday lunchtime in the rain. Amanda and Minx were running 22 out of the 43 semi finalists which gave Amanda plenty of time to panic, they managed however to produce a very nice clear and eventually finished fourth, thereby qualifying for the Olympia Final in December.
